Boxing headgears are used not only by classical style boxers, but also by their "colleagues" from Muay Thai, MMA and other directions where they train or compete in the appropriate gloves. Periods of these protective devices appeared already in antiquity, and prototypes of modern models - in the first half of the XX century. The story goes that the legendary "Raging Bull" Jack Dempsey personally asked Jacob Golomb, the founder of the famous brand Everlast, to create a headgear for him. The novelty appealed to other athletes, so Golomb soon started mass production and in 1986 international federations approved the headgear as a mandatory piece of equipment for some competitions, mostly at amateur level.
